Situational Dialogue 1

James is introducing the company to Amy，a new colleague.

Amy：James，what’s that？

James：Well，that is the chart showing our company’s organizational structure.

Amy：Could you tell me something about it？

James：OK. On the top，Mr.Thomas，the Managing Director，is responsible for running the company.

Amy：How many departments do we have？

James：Four.They are the Production Department，the Finance Department，the Sales & Marketing Department and the HR department. I directly report to Mr.King. He is on a business trip and is supposed to be back this morning. Probably you will be meeting him at lunch.

Amy：Okay！Whom should I report to？

James：Mr.King，too！

Mr.Black and his colleague come to New Century Company. Mr.Li makes a presentation of his company.

Mr.Li：Hello，everyone. Let me introduce Mr.Black and his colleague to you. Mr.Black and Ms.Windsor come from Sandra Company in America. It is the first time they visit our company.

Ms. Windsor：Hello，everyone. I’m Alice Windsor.

Mr.Black：Hello，everyone. I’m Wilson Black. We are so happy to visit your company.

Mr.Li：Welcome to our company. First，I’ll briefly introduce our company. In my presentation，I aim to do three things. First，I run briefly through the history of the company. Then I will tell you the main markets and product ranges and finally I will be glad to answer any questions at the end of my talk.（Turning on the slide.）

Mr.Li：To begin with，New Century Company was founded in 1992. In the early stage of entrepreneurship，there were only 20 members. As is shown by this chart，the number of our employees has reached 500. In the past decade，many new departments have been set up. By now，we have the Sales Department，the Purchasing Department，the Product Design Department，the Quality Control Department，the Logistics Department，and the Store Department. Our main products include car cushions，steering wheel covers，car covers，sunshades，car mats，alarm systems，etc. We also have different new series of products. Our products have won high fame in Asia，the USA，the EU，and other international markets. We also provide fully-tailored service for all products. This is one of the programs called “Design-a-Mat”，which supplies specialist markets. It is estimated that over 1，000，000 units will be sold in the Asian market this year. So，that is our general introduction. Do you have any questions？

Mr.Black：I heard that you will have new series of products for 2014.

Mr.Li：Yes，that is part of our diversification program. We use anti-flaming cloth to make seat cushion and seat covers. Here I have brought the samples of cloth in different styles. We will talk about the detailed information during the tea break. Thank you for your time and attention.

Later during the tea break，Mr.Black and Mr.Li have further communication about the New Century Company.

Mr.Black：How about your sales position，Mr.Li？

Mr.Li：Well，our sales position varies from product to product. Our sales volume last year totaled 3 million. In the eastern China，we have an almost 15% market share.

Mr.Black：Very impressive.

Mr.Li：Actually，many products have achieved trust from our regular customers.

Mr.Black：Great. Could you tell me about your delivery schedule？How long will the new series of products be delivered？How long would I have to wait for，say，1，000 units？

Mr.Li：100 units more than we’ve got in the warehouse. It’s no problem at all.

Mr.Black：How long would delivery take，then？

Mr.Li：Ah，yes，delivery. I will talk to the warehouse and check our supplies. We can usually deliver quite promptly. In fact，I could have the first 100 delivered within one week.

Mr.Black：Good.
