The United States of America is known as the most highly developed country in the world.However,its postal service has lagged far behind some of the less developed countries.This is probably due to the fact that the cell phone,E-mail as well as the telephone are more preferred means of communication.Few people care to give thoughts to improving the postal service.

It usually takes two to three days for regular mail to arrive in another part of the same city.During my stay in Beijing for a short visit,I was so surprised to find out that my friend in the Western Hills on Beijing's western suburb received my letter the same day I mailed it.Not only the delivery is slow in America,but the mail is delivered only once a day and there is no delivery on Sundays and holidays.It is more convenient in China where the mail is delivered twice a day including Sundays.

Three months ago,one of the renowned Chinese journals The World of English mailed two copies of their journal to me.Time and again,through E-mail,they asked me whether I have received the journals yet.I am sorry to say that each time the answer was“no”.I only hope the two books are still on their way instead of getting lost.(224 words)
